The Sarah Palin Story is designed to be an informative and objective site offering a variety of biographical and political information regarding the life of the current Governor of Alaska and 2008 Republican Vice Presidential nominee. The site itself is not associated with the McCain/Palin campaign or with Sarah Palin or the Republican Party. It features comments from all ends of the political spectrum that are in keeping with good taste and proper online etiquette.
The lead writer is Amy M. Armstrong who lives in Eagle River, Alaska - a bedroom community outside of Anchorage. She is a former community news reporter who won numerous state journalism awards in her local eight-year career. She now works from home. She and her husband, Bob - a retiree from the United States Coast Guard - are enjoying life on The Last Frontier, fishing and geocaching while raising their mildly autistic son, Ian, age 11.
In an effort to be transparent about her politics, Armstrong would like readers of the site to know that she did not register as a Republican until about a year ago when she was no longer working as a community news journalist. She did vote for Sarah Palin for Governor in 2006. Her main reason was significant irritation that former governor Frank Murkowski purchased a Learjet against the adamant wishes of Alaskans. And, while it might seem like a trite reason politically, Armstrong was favorably impressed by Palin’s participation in the 2006 Chugiak Fourth of July parade. Rather than ride in an open convertible as so many politicians do, Palin opted to walk the entire bumpy three-mile route of the parade along the Old Glenn Highway wearing flip-flops and shaking hands with folks lined up along the side of the road.
